Opening | Grandpa’s Freestyled Fairy Story

The Cosmic House presents the group exhibition Grandpa’s Freestyled Fairy Story, which brings together the works of emerging artists from Romania and Hungary.

“[…] Grandpa’s Freestyled Fairy Story starts from an imagined moment when a child asks his grandfather to tell him a story. Tired, the grandfather forgets the narrative thread of the fairy tale, embarking on the journey he started on various paths of the imaginary, introducing moments and characters belonging to other stories and other imaginary worlds during the story.

Through the imagined history of the tired grandfather who interwoven, as in the time of oral transmission of popular fiction, the evolution of characters such as Ileana Cosânzeana, Liderc, Garabonciások or Sfânta Duminică, the exhibition proposes both the closing of the circle, a return to the creative possibilities that orality allows, as well as an exercise in contemplating the encounter between different universes, found in any collective exhibition. Thus, Grandpa’s Freestyled Fairy Story brings together the creative universe of 29 artists in a story whose key is not represented by a narrative coherence but by the meeting of “characters” whose explorations, searches and dissimilar worlds, but they add up, shaping an interpenetration of common experiences—[…]” – excerpt from the exhibition text signed by Tudor Costin.

The opening will occur on Friday, April 26, from 5:00 p.m. at the gallery in General Eremia Grigorescu Street, no. 106, Cluj-Napoca. The exhibition can be visited until May 31, 2024.
