“What remains when the market goes silent?” is the third exhibition within the FORWARD residency program, presented by MATCA artspace (21 Calea Turzii, Cluj-Napoca). The opening will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 7:00 PM, bringing together works by artists Dan Beudean, Lucas Farah, Bianca Papuc, Iulia Pușcașu, and Judas Ștefan.

Curated by residents Eva Luca and Tudor Costin, with Miruna Drăgușanu serving as assistant curator, the exhibition invites reflection on the fragility of artistic practice amidst contemporary economic and social transformations. Without offering definitive answers, the project opens a space for inquiry into the place of the artwork and the condition of the artist within a landscape marked by information overload, material pressures, and the multiple crises of current capitalism.

“The exhibition adopts a rather pessimistic stance, looking toward the multiple crises generated by recent developments in capitalism. It openly questions—without seeking answers—the role of the artwork in the context of artists’ overexposure to both the avalanche of information and the material conditions in which they exist and create.”

Following the opening event, the exhibition can be visited from Wednesday to Saturday, by appointment made one day in advance.
