On August 29, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, as part of the 4th edition of Museum Night in the Villages, the exhibition “Volatile Sensations” by artist Raluca Ghideanu, curated by Adriana Oprea, will take place in Plaiu, Provița de Sus, Prahova County.
“With an educational background in sculpture, Raluca Ghideanu is an artist who has been working for more than two decades in all visual media and formats capable of allowing her to play with the limits of materiality and the fluent and elegant oscillation between concepts and artifacts, themes and states, laborious production processes and the diversity of final aesthetic solutions. As a performing artist, she was part of the art collectives participating in the Time Based Arts@Time Factor(y), a program coordinated by the artist Reka Csapo Dup in the frame of UNArte Bucharest. But Raluca Ghideanu has also been the author of several scenography, costume and interior design settings, assemblage, installation and multimedia artifacts, interventions in nature or ready-made objects integrated into experimental formulations.
Though loyal to an apparently melancholic and existentialist thematic frame that would take Emil Cioran as a landmark of philosophical affinity, Raluca Ghideanu guides this rather “heavy” emotional undertones (present throughout the “Prison of life” exhibition from 2010, for example), redimensioning it in a more complex and ambivalent key, sensitive to both depths and seriousness as well as to challenges and playful transgressions. This specific working method is perfectly reflected in the proposal for the second time of her own rural home studio as a participant in the Night of Museums in Villages, the orchard and the house with sculptures in Plaiu thus becoming the perfect context for a new visual display and a newly engaged commitment to her older works, as such or reconfigured, alongside more recent ones, initiators of new series and progressions in her professional career.” (curatorial text)
