The Kids Are Alright is an exhibition of graduates from the Photo-Video MA program at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, opening on Friday, June 26, at 7:00 PM, at Point Art Hub.
Paraphrasing the title of the well-known song by The Offspring, The Kids Aren’t Alright, the exhibition responds with humor and critical reflection to the pessimism and anxieties that society often projects onto younger generations. The title redefines the notion of “kid” not as an age category, but as a state of mind characterized by curiosity, openness, and a willingness to experiment.
Bringing together artists from different generations and backgrounds, the exhibition is unified by a shared concern for exploring new ways of seeing and interpreting reality. The presented works investigate themes such as belonging, family memory, the body, queer identities, the construction of imaginary worlds, and dystopian projections of the future.
Through photography, video, installation, objects, and personal archives, the works construct individual perspectives on a present marked by uncertainty, social pressure, and rapid transformation. Rather than offering definitive answers, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how identity, memory, and imagination shape our understanding of the contemporary world.
Featuring: Larisa Bălă, Cristina Bîrlădeanu, Cătălin Mihociu, Cătălin Nae, Maria Nicolae, Adrian Onexe, Alexandru Panaite, Rareș Morăreanu, Dănuț Tudorache, and Bianca Voicu.
The exhibition is curated by Alexandra Cojocaru and can be visited from June 26 to July 12. Visiting hours are Wednesday 6:00–11:00 PM, and Thursday–Sunday 11:00 AM–11:00 PM.
