The first printed issue of the Empower Artists magazine was launched on Saturday, February 17, at MV Sci-art in Timișoara. Diana Marincu, curator and art critic, Maria Orosan-Telea, curator and art critic, Mihai Toth, visual artist and co-founder of Baraka Artist, Mirela Stoeac – Vlăduți, curator and founder of MV sci-art and Angela Izvercian, Empower Artists Magazine coordinator, spoke at the launching.
The first printed edition of Empower Artists Magazine, TIMIȘOARA 2023/ A RETROSPECTIVE, is a must-read for anyone looking to explore the main events in the sphere of visual arts that took place in Timișoara during the celebration of holding the title of European Capital of Culture.
The magazine captures the transformative journey of the city on the Bega River, which has become a state of mind through its cultural and artistic effervescence.
The INSPIRATION section includes a selection of interviews with outstanding people, from artists to curators, gallerists and cultural operators, including Doina LEMNY, Sorina JECZA, Tilla RUDEL, Cosmina GOAGEA, Diana MARINCU, Dan PERJOVSCHI, Mirela STOEAC – VLĂDUȚI, Andrei TUDOSE, Mimi CIORA and Sergiu SAS, who transformed Timișoara into an effervescent cultural city through numerous exceptional events, initiated and coordinated over time, but also in the context of celebrating holding the title of European Capital of Culture.
The EXPERIENCES column signals the most exciting and important visual experiences that took place in Timișoara in this unrepeatable year, such as the central collective exhibition Sete cronică – Chronic Desire from the opening of the cultural program “Timișoara European Capital of Culture in 2023”, or the dedicated exhibitions the great artists: Victor Brauner, Adrian Ghenie or Constantin Brâncuși.
In the ART GUIDE column, you will read an authentic dialogue with the collector Avi CICIREAN about what art and collecting mean and how to start an art collection. The interview is completed with an introduction by Diana URSAN to the world of private contemporary art galleries in Romania.
The magazine ends with the SPACES section dedicated to contemporary art spaces, from art galleries to artist-run spaces or alternative spaces, active on the Timișoara art scene.
