State of Flux is a group exhibition, curated by Ada Muntean, that brings together the artistic approaches of nine artists, interested in exploring the figurative through various visual media: Robert Andacs, Marius Bodea, Anca Brânzaș, Mircea But, Mihaela Coandă, Taisia Corbuț, Marius Ghita, Tincuța Marin, Bogdan Rusu.
Painting is the common ground in describing distinct plastic universes for most of them.
State of Flux refers to a state of uncertainty, of continuous change, becoming the description of a fluctuating context. This expression is often used to describe situations, processes or systems which are unpredictable, dynamic, unresolved, or that remain in a state of uncertainty.
Changes, evolutions or undergoing transitions define the analysed context, and the state of things is not stale or fixed. Thus, Uncertainty becomes the central element around which a fluid reality with ambiguous boundaries is organically built. Successive transformations define the process of artistic creation itself, and painting outlines itself within these coordinates as a versatile visual media, technically descriptive but not overly narrative.
The artistic approaches become incursions into the maze-like structure of human nature as well as explorations of the figurative and the organic. Starting from cut-outs of reality, the artists configure plastic universes around a few simple elements, which they infuse with a symbolic substance, representing nodal points that determine the development of personal narratives. In their works, presence and absence become coordinates for building formal and conceptual suggestions that leave the reading and meaning of the image almost solely to the beholder.
State of Flux offers possible visual scenarios as a group project, evoking a past that foreshadows the future through an undefined present meant to ask questions and refuses to give palpable answers. Although they master all the techniques to transform into visual „reporters” of human existence, the artists decide to place themselves somewhere outside and extract the essence erupting from life in its natural flow.
