Between June 3 and June 28, 2024, Elite Art Gallery hosts the personal exhibition of the artist Sergiu Grapă, entitled [No] Limit, curated by Ioana Mirică.
The exhibition [No] Limit, by the artist Sergiu Grapă, includes a series of works of graphics, painting, and digital techniques printed on paper and canvas, echoing the surrealist artistic current. The artist’s compositions are predominantly vertical and combine both dynamic and static elements, in constructions in which the artist explores not only the territory of chromaticism but also that of monochrome.
“These works represent metaphors of existence and the human condition, utopias treated in an absurd dynamic, in which the compositional elements relate and are valued in a new symbolism, placed in a timeless space“, says Sergiu Grapă about his exhibition.
The beginning and the end, the rebirth and perpetuation of existence from the natural cycle of life, the impact technology has on humanity, the exploration of the subconscious and the world of dreams, the morality of what is happening around us, and the direction humanity is headed are just a few of the aspects that characterize the artist’s works.
“The public is invited to a foray into the world seen by Sergiu Grapă, where they can explore the complexity of identity and discover a new perspective on man’s relationship with technology. We are trapped in a virtual, augmented reality, and there seems to be no escape. We can’t even go back to the life before… It only depends on how much we let ourselves be led by technology. Sergiu Grapă is an artist who combines surrealist elements with contemporary ones and challenges us to look beyond the conventional limits of reality”, said Ioana Mirică, Elite Art Gallery Curator.
Sergiu Grapă (b. 1975) has been a member of the Union of Plastic Artists, Suceava Branch, since 2006. He studied at the George Enescu University of Arts Iași, Faculty of Fine, Decorative and Design Arts, Graphics section, with his teacher Ion Truică, director of animation films, graphic designer, and scenographer. So far, the artist has had both personal and group exhibitions in Bucharest, Suceava, Iasi, Gura-Humorului, Chisinau, and Târgu-Jiu.
The exhibition “[No] Limit” can be visited between June 3-28, 2024, from Monday to Friday, at the Elite Art Gallery (Piața Naționile Unite, no. 3-5), between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
