The exhibition “Monica Lovinescu. The voice that was given to us”, an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Monica Lovinescu (1923-2008), is an invitation to rediscover the landmarks that can build or rebuild a society and to understand the power of words and the freedom and responsibility to say what we think.
Monica Lovinescu is a landmark that is not taught in school today. She was the voice on the radio that had the courage to face a totalitarian regime, and her efforts were a form of moral salvation, individual and collective.
The general public has the opportunity to delve into the life of Monica Lovinescu through an exhibition in which original documents, objects, testimonies, fragments of broadcasts from the period 1960-1991 from Radio Europa Liberă, emotional dialogues with Mircea Eliade, Petru Comarnescu, Ana Blandiana, Octavian Paler or Eugen Ionescu, will be exhibited for the first time.
The exhibition, hosted by La Mița Biciclista Stabiliment Creativ in Bucharest, can be visited until February 4, 2024, from Monday to Friday 18:00 – 22:00, and Saturday and Sunday between 12:00 – 22:00. Last access time is 21:30.
