The Eforie Colorat Festival started on Monday, July 3, with the theater show “The Last Bell”, performed by the students of the local “Carmen Sylva” High School, followed by the opening of the “Inflatable Concrete” installation, made by the artist Mircea Modreanu, and a screening of short films Movie Breaks.
The Eforie Colorat Festival presents daily, during the two summer months, films, concerts, debates, openings, workshops, and greening actions, events designed to remove the barriers between artists and the general public and the boundaries between conventional exhibition spaces and public space.
“The oldest resort on the Romanian coast relies on culture in the rehabilitation process. We open alternative spaces, where creative communities meet their audiences and use art and dialogue as ways to question society. It’s an attempt to talk about simplicity and nature in an era where technology changes everything, from the role and meaning of the artistic act, to the sensitive matter with which it operates”, said Emil Cristian Ghiță, co-organizer of the Eforie Colorat Festival .

65 movie nights. Cinemascop Garden in Eforie Sud resumes its mission of showing good films throughout the summer. Every evening, until the end of the season, outdoor screenings of the most interesting current productions are scheduled, from Hollywood blockbusters to European films, documentaries, short films, or experimental films.
Every Tuesday night, the CineShort section, developed in partnership with Short Film Breaks, brings to the public the most interesting short films of the moment. The classic film is king every Wednesday, in the RetroCinema section, and the documentary is in the Kinedok section. Thursday evenings are reserved for childhood stories, which have even more charm at the Black Sea. The CineKids section will delight families with the most popular animations. Fridays and Saturdays are dedicated to European films, and the CineHit section offers international blockbusters every Sunday.

An important moment in the summer program is the preview screening of the newest film by director Alexandru Solomon, a documentary road movie that follows the traiectory of Arsenie Boca.
The screening will occur in the team’s presence on August 25, 2023, followed by a Q&A session.
Workshops organized by the National Museum of Romania. MNAR brings color to the seaside and invites the public to a series of painting workshops.

Contemporary art and concerts. Contemporary art exhibitions will open throughout the summer at Eforie, a program developed in partnership with the E T A J artist-run space in Bucharest, and with partner diplomatic institutes or local cultural centers. The summer program includes photography exhibitions, from Spanish advertising art to a suite of press cartoon visual statements about the war in Ukraine.
The program is enriched by performance sessions and artist talk moments – in which artists such as Reka Csapo Dup, Darie Dup, Mugur Grosu, or Lumi Mihai will participate.
Poetry recitals or photography exhibitions complete the edition’s cultural offer and evenings with experimental and alternative music. The special guest this year is the Faust Live Band, a band of accomplished musicians.

MUZEUL LITORALULUI. Rehabilitation of the Carmen Sylva Archives. Launched last year, the interdisciplinary project Arhivele litoralului continues this year with stories about beach games from the 1960s-1970s, “when the space was somehow vaster, more unrestricted when you could chase the ball on the sand without worrying, without encountering someone.
All this, together with old photographs from private collections, will become, by the end of this year, the first digitized museum of the Romanian seaside.
Eforie Colorat for children. In addition to animated films, children are welcome at the Cinemascop Garden every day, with play areas, ping-pong tables, legos or fussball, among many others. Parents can also enjoy a pop-up library and a merch area with lots of surprises.

Eforie Colorat. The Eforie Colorat Festival was launched in 2021 as a complex cultural program, dedicated both to tourists and members of the local community, as well as to the artistic community or ecology groups at the national level. They all have at their disposal, annually, a series of creative and educational residencies at Eforie Sud. Organized by the Visual Arts Forum Association, in partnership with the Czech Center, Eforie City Hall, and Radef Romania Film, the Eforie Colorat program aims to revitalize the cultural spaces on the shores of the Black Sea through contemporary art.
The festival is a dialogue platform for the artistic community, decision-makers from local and central administrations, and activist groups. It is a joint effort to formulate current solutions for rehabilitation and development, to offer the Eforie Sud resort an alternative in the cultural offer and another engine of development.
Participation in all events scheduled during the festival is free.
