Decebal Scriba | Records Beyond Vision at Jecza Gallery

The opening of the exhibition “Records Beyond Vision” by Decebal Scriba takes place on March 2nd, at 7:00 PM, at Jecza Gallery.

We are thrilled to invite you to the opening of “Records from Beyond Vision,” a solo exhibition by Romanian artist Decebal Scriba, showcasing a remarkable collection of works from various stages of his career. This exhibition is a journey through Decebal Scriba’s body of work and marks a significant collaboration with Jecza Gallery, revisiting works that have previously been displayed in the group show “In & Out” in 2022, alongside new works.

Born in 1944, Decebal Scriba emerged as a leading figure in the Romanian avant-garde scene of the early 1970s. His innovative work, which includes photography, installations, performances, and video art, has played a pivotal role in defining the post-war art history. Decebal’s art challenges us to think about language, space, and symbolic forms in new ways, marking him as a true pioneer of conceptual art.

Despite facing the challenges of a restrictive regime, Decebal’s spirit remained unbroken, and he continued to push the boundaries of artistic expression. Today, his work is celebrated across Europe for its insightful exploration of conceptual art, blending philosophical thoughts with a touch of spirituality.

Decebal Scriba currently lives and works in Paris and is represented by Gallery Anne Sarah Benichou.
