Jecza Gallery Bucharest presents Cestrum Nocturnum, the new exhibition by Tincuța Marin. The title refers to the nocturnal flower known as “Queen of the Night,” which blooms in the evening after sunset, at a moment when things begin to shift and are perceived differently.
Like this flower, the works in the exhibition do not reveal themselves immediately. Instead, they remain withdrawn, building a presence that gradually unfolds in a state of tension.
The artist’s new series brings together archaic symbols and modernist fragmentations, constructing a dense and contemplative space. Inspired by Egyptian mythology, creation narratives, and protective rituals, Tincuța Marin’s practice reactivates the idea of “magical thinking” as a contemporary strategy.
Mythical figures, often feminine, emerge as resilient presences within a context marked by change and uncertainty. At the same time, the dark palette reflects the fragility of the present and transforms the exhibition into a transitional space — between protection and exposure, between the sacred and the contemporary.
The exhibition can be visited until June 21 at Jecza Gallery Bucharest.
