Whispers of light in the silence | Sci-art your life! delves into the complex relationship between space, light and sound and the ways in which these elements mutually intensify to construct intersecting personal and collective narratives. Through immersive light and sound installations, the artists explore ways of interacting with the materiality of light to reveal the depth and complexity of our shared space. Public or private space is not static, but is reconfigured through our interactions with it and the thoughts and memories we fill it with. Space is adjusted by its sound resonance and sometimes by “tactility” and smell. Light, however, potentiates and materializes it, becoming an experiential element that contributes to its dynamism and to the configuration of architectural compositions.
The exhibition seeks to create environments that heighten awareness of individuals’ sensory experiences, challenging them to explore the materiality of light and sound in relation to the space they occupy. Beyond waves and rays, sound and light are more than natural elements; they are a dynamic and multifaceted environment that reconfigures our perception of space. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the exhibition is an invitation to reconsider the ways in which we listen and observe, how we inhabit space and how we engage with the sound and light environments that surround us.
Without light the eyes can perceive no shape, no color, no space or movement. Light is not only an illuminating force, but also a guide in the perception of space, being a transforming agent that shapes and redefines the world around us. The way we experience a space is transformed by our encounters with light and its ability to evoke emotions. “Light (…) is a quality inherent in the sky, the earth and the objects that populate it, and their brightness is periodically obscured or smothered by darkness” – Rudolf Arnheim.
The exhibition can be visited until October 28, 2023.
