“Transcendental Translation”. The first solo exhibition in Romania by Austrian artist Anita Schmid

“Transcendental Translation”, the first solo exhibition in Romania by Austrian artist Anita Schmid, can be visited until December 1 in the Jecza Projects space.

“In her quiet research for beauty, the Eraclitean concept of panta rei seems to be a leitmotif: an ongoing metamorphosis of the self is the only true constant of human existence. Just like a water stream, the artist’s hand seems to be guided by the hand of the Greek goddess Arete in a spiritual transformative helical movement whose ultimate goal is to reach the ultimate balance.
The realm of perception is always tackled in Schmid’s work: each brushstroke transcends the physical world of the paper medium just like numbers transcend a mathematical equation. In her journey discovering the multiplicity of inner worlds, a communal sense of memory always emerges from chaos: hints of ancestral memories, Plato’s reminiscences are awakened by the sensible world, only to fully transcend in the most sacred form of beauty.” Cecilia Federici

Anita Schmid is a visual artist of Austrian origin based in Vienna. She studied at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien. Her last exhibitions were at Gallery Elektrohalle Rhomberg (Salzburg), Messingschwarz (Vienna), Salon am Schwarzenbergplatz (Vienna), Galerie Chardon (Paris), Parallel Vienna (art fair) and Galerie Hilger Next (Vienna).
