MNAC Bucharest hosts a section of the National Salon for Contemporary Arts organized by the Visual Artists’ Union of Romania (UAP) as an event which continues the tradition of the national salons opened since the end of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century.

The 2022 edition experiments with the initial formula of the open salon, with sections dedicated to painting, sculpture, decorative arts, video and digital media. This exhibition is an attempt to offer an articulate image of the UAP today, of its members and their artistic practices and media of choice. The salon showcases recent artworks that were proposed by the artists themselves, and it affirms the potential of this format as incubator, meeting point and initial stage for future exhibitions.
