“Silent Witnesses”| Photography exhibition by Nicola Vinci at IAGA Contemporary Art

“Silent Witnesses” is the second personal exhibition of the Italian artist Nicola Vinci at IAGA Contemporary Art.

The exhibition, curated by Camilla Remondina, brings together two original projects Alone (2011) and Uncovered Parts (2019-2022). Both artistic projects present the same space/place photographed by the artist at different times. The artist noticed the house of a lonely man who lived in his hometown, Castellaneta, who unwittingly became the target of rumors launched by the townspeople, stories that the artist captured in the photos he took.

The choice to present both cycles of works to the public was dictated by the desire to show the different experiences lived by the artist in the same place but at different time intervals. The second incursion provides the artist and the viewer with new details, impressions, thoughts, and suggestions.

The exhibition can be visited until April 18, 2023 at the IAGA Contemporary Art gallery (Strada Cloşca n. 9-11, Cluj-Napoca, Romania). The entry is free.

The artist and photographer Nicola VINCI was born in 1975 in Castellaneta (TA, Italy). He studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bari, but photography is the preferred medium of his artistic research, focusing on emotional development, the relationship with the outside, and different spaces.
Nicola Vinci participated in a series of artistic residencies and numerous collective exhibitions in Italy, in East Asia (China and South Korea), and several European countries (including Spain, Germany, Romania, Slovenia, and Switzerland). He had personal exhibitions at important art galleries such as Arte Boccanera Contemporanea (Trento), Galleria Bonelli Arte Contemporanea (Mantova), IAGA Contemporary Art, Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Hous Projects, New York (United States) or Photographers Gallery ZA, Cape Town (South Africa). He currently lives and works in Verona.

Camilla Remondina (Brescia, 1995) is a specialist in Communication and Didactics of Visual Art at the Accademia di Belle Arti Santa Giulia in Brescia. She is an independent curator and collaborates with Ilaria Bignotti (Brescia, 1979) on numerous art projects.
Since 2017 she has been in charge of the Scientific Secretariat of the Antonio Scaccabarozzi Archive (Milan) and 2018 she founded the curatorial group ACME Art Lab together with Alessia Belotti (Seriate, 1996) and Melania Raimondi (Brescia, 1994), to consolidate and disseminate contemporary art on the national and international territory through exhibition projects, performances, educational workshops, conferences, and other artistic events, with an emphasis on emerging artists, and the creation of events capable of involving a large audience.

The IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery in Cluj-Napoca was founded in 2014 by Alberto Perobelli, entrepreneur and collector of modern and contemporary art. Starting from the acquisition of works of the Italian great masters from post-war period, through his activity in Romania, he began to explore the research and languages of young local artists, an approach that led to the founding of the IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery, a project through which he aims to bring the artistic discourses of visual creators from Eastern European countries, including young and middle-aged Italian artists, into an authentic dialogue.
Six art exhibitions are organized annually. At the same time, the gallery has an active participation in art fairs in Italy and the countries of North-Eastern Europe. The intense activity of the gallery is coordinated by Rosalba Di Pierro, the Gallery Manager.
