AnnArt Gallery presents the group exhibition Silenced Anxiety, curated by Ruxandra Tudoran, which proposes an exercise of introspection, crossing the diversity of the creations/perspectives of eight Romanian artists from four cities in the country: Bucharest, Iasi, Arad and Cluj-Napoca.
The eight participating artists are Dragoș Bojin, Radu Carnariu, Antonia Corduneanu, Ada Muntean, Radu Pandele, Diana Serghiuță Popa, Andrei Tudoran and Ruxandra Tudoran.
There is a desire to do something; anything is better than staying in the unknown and the anxiety it creates. There is a desire to find quick fixes to solve anything. (Carl R. Rogers, 1995)
Silenced Anxiety is a selection of narratives exploring the human psyche’s complexity. They formulate a way of living with anxiety, turning it into a creative impulse, a life force, rather than an overwhelming, morbid one, thus developing antibodies to this modern affliction.
From the avalanche of ideas emerges the artist’s work, not crushed but crystallised, not constrained by the rules by which it will express itself, but free and fearless, for it is stripped of the infinite forms it could embody; it is authentic and dedicated to fulfilment a unique experience. The path of work from the privacy of the workshop to the exhibition can be compared to the way of communication behind the screens, uninhibited by the fact that the dialogue is not direct. The freedom manifesto appears paradoxically by implementing structures that seek to surprise, intrigue, and charm the viewer.
The exhibition offers viewers the chance to explore the self, personal histories and less (re)known emotions through the effect of mirroring in the work.
