“Permanent World Encyclopedia” is presented at Brașov Art Museum

After two months of success in the cities of Reșita and Craiova, the itinerant exhibition “Permanent World Encyclopedia”, an effort to promote the young generation of artists at the national level, has arrived in Brașov, offering the public the opportunity to discover the creations of contemporary Romanian artists.
The opening of the exhibition took place at the Brașov Art Museum on Thursday, November 14, in the presence of the curator and the artists.

“The exhibition “Permanent World Encyclopedia” brings together the practices of seventeen young and emerging artists who operate in a diversity of mediums, from the traditional stain of painting to the audio-visual formulas of artificial intelligence. The title derives from the literary work of H.G. Wells and refers to the relationship that today’s artistic practices have with the size of encyclopedias.
In an interconnected world whose lexicographic story lies every day in our pockets a click away, new artistic practices seem to articulate in symbiosis with these systemically constructed spaces. Thus, the diversity suggested in this exhibition must be viewed in this key and assimilated in the form of a complex of personal encyclopedias that complement the global one.” (Excerpt from the curatorial text)

In the “Permanent World Encyclopedia” are exhibited: Roxana Ajder, Adrian Buda, Mihaela Coandă, Iulian Cristea, Călin Dumitrașcu, Iuliana Hlihor, Andrei Ispas, Ana Lupu, Andreea Mihalka, David Miholcsa, Moga Dan Marius, Ada Muntean, Oana Năstăsache, Raluca Pavelescu, Iulia Pușcașu, Daniel Semenciuc and Codruț Zele.

“We are excited to bring the “Permanent World Encyclopedia” exhibition to Brașov, and we are confident that the exhibition will continue to inspire and connect the general public with the new generation of artists. The project has already been met with great interest in Reșita and Craiova, and now we are impatient to see how the Brașov community will receive it”, stated Angela Izvercian, the project’s initiator.

About the impact of the approach launched by the two cultural platforms Arta Prezentului and Empower Artists, Norbert Filep, the curator of the exhibition, said: “The initiative of the itinerant project “Permanent World Enciclopedia” is extremely commendable, offering new generations of artists the necessary visibility and openness by promoting their practices. This success is due to the double openness of this generation of artists; on the one hand, their interaction with the institutions on the Romanian art scene, and the other, with the audience specific to each location. Thus, the project of this exhibition takes shape as an exciting path in the dynamics of new generations.”

“We want Brașov Art Museum to become a true cultural landmark, stimulating the artistic community and promoting collaboration between institutions, galleries, artists and non-governmental organizations. Projects like “Permanent World Encyclopedia” perfectly reflect this vision, offering a platform for emerging Romanian artists, with a creative diversity that invites the public to discover new perspectives and brings them closer to contemporary art.” – Bianca-Maria Bălșan, manager of the Brașov Art Museum.

“Permanent World Encyclopedia” is part of a larger initiative of the Arta Prezentului and Empower Artists platforms, dedicated to supporting and promoting Romanian contemporary art nationally and internationally. After Brașov, the exhibition will reach Bucharest, thus completing the series of exhibition events that brought together the young generation of artists and art lovers from the whole country.
