Opening “ATOMA. Euphoric Alienation” at Kulterra Gallery

On Thursday, October 13, at 7 p.m., the Atoma artist invites us to answer the question: “How much of what we think makes us happy, does it also make us well or represents us?”, with its eighth personal exhibition – “Euphoric Alienation” – whose opening will take place at Kulterra Gallery (Ştirbei Vodă, 104-106).

The exhibition “ATOMA. Euphoric Alienation” addresses the problem of addiction, alienation, and euphoria. The artist’s works represent, rather, a finding of the current state in which society finds itself, urging us to ask ourselves and to be aware of what we consume in the daily informational assault, but also how it changes our own choices in this context.

“Alienation means isolation, madness, the weakness of the individual towards society and towards himself, his depersonalization in large and bureaucratic organizations, and euphoric is related to euphoria, which refers to euphoria, which causes euphoria, a state that manifests itself in a feeling of exaggerated good mood, of unmotivated optimism and which occurs in some nervous diseases or is provoked by some narcotic substances; by extension, it means bliss, drunkenness or ecstasy.

ATOMA descends from the turbot into the exhibition hall with an ambitious, artivist, immersive solo show, with a message and a wealth of information, sources, and meanings, which it organizes in a triptych, in an attempt to dominate and organize the outer chaos, and to tame it in the form of a story with a warning message, which nevertheless remains to be decrypted and understood by the public, on the spot. […]

Instead of a possible denouement, the artist convenes a possible physical presence, which materializes in the form of oversized lips and they, behind which is digitalization, as a metonymy for social media and the consumer society, along with all the shortcomings they entail, including the lack of responsibility, superficiality, the slippages that transform us and bring us to this point.” (excerpt taken from the curatorial text written by Daniel Kozak)

The exhibition “ATOMA. Euphoric Alienation” will be open until November 6, 2022.

ATOMA studied painting with professor Marcel Bunea and mural with professor Lisandru Neamțu at the National University of Arts in Bucharest.
ATOMA had 7 personal exhibitions in Bucharest and participated in 20 group exhibitions (Bucharest, Timisoara, Constanta, and Brasov). Her murals can be seen in Bucharest, Târgu Jiu, Bacău, Sibiu, Satu Mare Galați, and Petroşani.
The art created by ATOMA addresses and frontally criticizes the impact that technology and (social/mass)-media have on society, but also on each individual.
