Neo Art Connect Timișoara

The Annual Art and Science Neo Art Connect (NAC), the second edition, national network and platform, organized by the Cultural Association Neo Art Romania and Galateca Gallery in Bucharest, co-organizers of UNITH2B, is curated by Anca Boeriu and Andreea Sandu (founder of NAC ). This year’s focus is on the architecture section, curated by Anca Brandiburg and Hildegard Brandl. NAC 2024 takes place in 11 cities from May 10 to July 30, 2024, and has the theme Changing Environments.

The exhibition in Timișoara, hosted by Galeria 5 – Centrul de Proiecte Timișoara, proposes to the public a curatorial concept starting from the theme of Changing Environments, a selection of multimedia installations and works at the intersection between art and science by important emerging artists, winners of NAC scholarships in 2023 and 2024, which talk about the impact of new technologies, but also of climate change, both on individuals and on society. It was created in partnership with CODR, the Project Center, and Timișoara City Hall.

During the opening in Timișoara, which took place on Saturday, June 8, Elena Adorian Aronoaie, member of the NAC Board, Mihai Toth and Sânziana Gheorghe, winners of the NAC Scholarships 2023 / 2024, spoke and there was also a performance by Mirela Cerbu.

The NAC 2024 winning projects were chosen by the NAC jury consisting of Christl Baur, President, Director of the Ars Electronica Festival; Horea Avram, art historian and curator; Mihai Zgondoiu, artist and curator; Anca Boeriu, artist and professor at UNArte Bucharest, Andreea Sandu, cultural manager, curator, founder of NAC and Galateca.
The winners of the NAC Scholarships 2023 / 2024 are Mirela Cerbu, Sebastian Comănescu, Sânziana Gheorghe, Andrei Lazăr, Marina Oprea, Mihaela Pop, Mihai Toth.

Changing Environments” creates a space for debate from the socio-cultural perspective of creators and artists who integrate, use or collaborate with various other scientific fields and new technologies about the impact we feel at the individual and socio-economic-cultural level due to significant changes in contemporary society, due on the one hand to the development of technology, to new artificial intelligence present in most aspects of life, but also to climate and environmental changes, along with those created by armed conflicts in areas near our country. “, NAC curator Anca Boeriu and Andreea Sandu.

The NAC Architecture Section will be present in Piaţa Libertății, a project curated by Anca Brandiburg and Hildegard Brandl in the public space.


The exhibition can be visited until June 16 between 16.00 and 20.00. The entry is free.
