“La pas prin atelierele UAP”- a complex event with exhibitions, debates, and guided tours in 4 important cities in the country

Launched at the end of 2022 by Asociatia Nucleu 0000, in partnership with the Union of Visual Artists from Romania, the program “La pas prin atelierele UAP” brings the general public closer to the creative spaces of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania, but also to the artistic process. Art lovers are invited into worlds rarely accessible to the general public, places that sometimes remain closed even to specialists or art collectors.

Each of these formal spaces reveals a universe that partly defines a creator’s development. It is the place where an artist can sit for hours in front of a white canvas, pressed by pessimistic visions or enthusiasm, enticed by stories or abstract concepts, and all kinds of thoughts that will become form or color.

The program “La pas prin atelierele UAP/Walking through the UAP studios in Romania 2023” includes exhibitions, debates, and guided tours by professionals from the creative industries in the UAP’s buildings in four important cities in the country: Bucharest, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Arad and Timișoara.

This year’s meetings will begin on Friday, June 23, at 7:00 p.m., with an opening at the Atelier 35 gallery in Bucharest. The exhibiting artists are Sabina Suru, Andrei Tudose, Lucia Ghegu, Albert Kaan, Iulia Toma, Pușa Pleșca, Ilina Schileru, and Alina Marinescu.

The artists who open their workshops on Saturday and Sunday (June 24-25) are Angela Alexa, Atoma, Marius Burhan, Maria Cioată, Mihaela Constantin, Dorina Horătău, Maria Panțur, Ilina Schileru, Sabina Suru, Aniela Ovadiuc and many others.
The workshops are located in the famous Borcan, one of the few cylindrical blocks of interwar Romania. The emblematic tower block has hosted more than 50 artists for almost 40 years (floors 1-5, Doamnei Street no. 5, sector 3, Bucharest).
The building, designed in 1935 by the architects H. Stern, Rudolf Frenkel, and Marcel Locar, was built by the Adriatica insurance company. During the communist period, it became the headquarters of Tehnoimport – a structure that was in charge of exporting to Spain the tires manufactured by Danubiana București and Victoria Florești.

The tour continues next weekend in Râmnicu Vâlcea. On June 30, an exhibition will be opened that brings together the artists: Corina Croitoru Necșuleu, Daniel Stancu, Alexandra Elena Ungureanu, Andreea Petrișor Heresanu, Cătălin Petrișor Heresanu, Irina Ionelia Ionescu, Andrei Mateescu and Claudiu Cobilanschi.
