A premiere is organizing an event – satellite of the biennale in Timișoara in November, which connects Băile Herculane and the city on the Bega through a mobile artistic residency, workshops in public policy making, and architecture conferences.

A common European history links the two cities, this year benefiting from a simultaneous European recognition Timișoara – European Capital of Culture 2023 and Baile Herculane included in the Network of Historic Thermal Cities in Europe and the European Route of Historic Thermal Cities, being the only thermal city from Romania in these lists.

The cultural program continues until the end of 2024. During this time, cultural activities will be organized in the resort on Valea Cernei. A series of resolutions will be developed for the cultural heritage of Baile Herculane: a package of recommendations and solutions for developing the heritage that will be created by a multidisciplinary group of specialists and launched in 2024.

Heritage First! is a project developed by the Locus Association, co-organized together with the Cultural Association for Artistic Intervention and the 4 Association, being co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund with Băile Herculane City Hall as its leading partner and the Romanian Order of Architects as strategic partners, the National Heritage Institute and ICOMOS.
The project is part of the national cultural program “Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023” and is financed by the Grow Timișoara 2023 program, run by the Project Center of the Municipality of Timișoara, with amounts allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.

The project does not necessarily represent the position of the National Cultural Fund Administration. AFCN is not responsible for the project’s content or how the project results may be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the beneficiary of the funding.
