Changing Environments. NAC Grants Exhibition at Galateca

On May 10, the second edition of the Neo Art Connect (NAC) Art and Science Annual begins, organized by the Neo Art Romania Cultural Association and Galateca Gallery, initiated and curated by Andreea Sandu and Anca Boeriu. NAC unfolds in 11 cities from May 10 to July 30, 2024, with “Changing Environments” as its theme.

The first NAC exhibition features the five winning projects of the NAC Grants, 2nd edition, provided by BRD Group Societe Generale. The winning projects were selected by the NAC jury consisting of Christl Baur, President, Director of the Ars Electronica Festival; Horea Avram, art historian and curator; Mihai Zgondoiu, artist and curator; Anca Boeriu, artist and professor at UNArte Bucharest; and Andreea Sandu, cultural manager, curator, and NAC initiator. Over 130 applications inspired by this edition’s theme, Changing Environments, were submitted for this edition.

The following artists and their works developed during the mentoring sessions at Galateca: Sebastian Comănescu (Bucharest), project Thigmonastic Specimen 001; Dragoș Dogioiu (Bucharest), project HUSK; Sânziana Gheorghe (Timișoara), project Silicon Souls: Mars Odyssey; Marina Oprea (Bucharest), project Ourcelium; and Elena Waldorf (Cluj-Napoca), project The Morbid Myth of Digital Dementia. The mentorship program and project development took place from February to March 2024.

Also on May 10, during the opening, the second edition of the NAC Annual – Neo Art Connect is launched.

The synthesis exhibition, the focal point of the second edition of the NAC 2024 Art and Science Annual, proposes the largest event of its kind to date, taking place from May 30 to June 2, 2024, at the LAMINOR Hall. Thus, 15,000 square meters are dedicated to art and science, featuring a generous exhibition concept with new sections on architecture, ecology (sustainability), focusing on Ars Electronica and NAC Kids.

The Annual continues exhibitions and events until July 30 in 11 cities, extending from Bucharest to the NAC network connecting localities such as Arad, Brasov, Bacau, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Iasi, Oradea, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Sibiu, and Timișoara, and including new areas and partners.

NEO ART CONNECT (NAC) is the first national network of art and science, an innovative concept with three dimensions: an annual art and science event, the first permanent gallery in the Black Room at Galateca Gallery, and a national platform.
