The residencies offer the framework, time, and space necessary to develop their own practices. Artists will have access to space and other tangible and intangible resources. The residency takes place for a minimum of 2 / maximum of 4 weeks, at Viewing Room 17 in Cluj-Napoca, between April and September 2023.

During the residency, artists will benefit from:

  • workspace for one month (minimum 2, maximum 4 weeks);
  • fee of 6385 lei (gross);
  • mentorship from the artist Szilard Gaspar;
  • the available material resources of the organizers;
  • an event at end of residency;
  • participation in cultural and networking events (meetings with other artists, collectors, gallerists, cultural managers), visits to exhibitions;
  • promotion on the organiser’s social media accounts and partners’ platforms;
  • introduction to legislative and fiscal aspects offered by the coordinator of the project;

Viewing Room 17 is also participating in an art fair in Budapest in October 2023, with the possibility of including artists in this exhibition. Experience translates into visibility and familiarity with the entire process (registration, organization, stand design, travel, relationship with the public and potential buyers, etc.).
The duration of each residency will be determined by mutual agreement, depending on the artist’s availability.

Eligibility criteria
The residencies are addressed to young visual artists, under 30 years old at the time of registration, students or graduates, emerging, at the beginning of their professional career, in need of training and professionalization opportunities, regardless of the environment in which they work or the topics covered, predominantly active in Cluj (residence in Cluj or the possibility of providing accommodation).

Asociaศ›ia LaPฤƒtratยฒ is an artistic platform founded in Cluj in 2021 for the diversification of the cultural offer, innovation and collaboration, dedicated to performing arts, visual arts, cultural mediation and sustainability.

Viewing Room 17 is an initiative that began to take shape in 2021, starting from the desire to give talented young artists the opportunity to present their works in a period that has proven to be hostile, both to the production and to the exhibition of art. Over time, the space began to develop organically into an exhibition space and space for residences.
