Romanian Design Week launched a call for projects with the theme CONNECTIONS for next year’s edition. The Open Call is addressed to all local architects and designers, who in the last two years have created projects that they are proud of and think are worth sharing with the general public.
Romanian Design Week is an annual festival dedicated to the creative industries through which professionals in the field are promoted by offering a context in which to present their projects both to colleagues in the industry and to the general public.
The Open Call has two objectives: to gather a selection of items for the RDW 2023 physical exhibition and to launch an online archive of good practices in design and architecture, which encourages quality work, helps raise market standards, and can be taken as examples to follow in future years. Thus, the online collection of projects will become an important tool in promoting good practices throughout the year, not just during the 10 days of the festival.
The projects will be voted by the participants of the last edition of the exhibition with Open Call (2021 edition). Among them, a series of curators in each field (architecture, interior architecture, fashion, graphic design, illustration, and product design) will make the selection for the physical exhibition. The projects that deserve to be applauded, but which do not enter the exhibition, will remain on romaniandesignweek.ro as examples of good practices and can be consulted throughout the year.
The whole endeavor intends to collect and promote as many examples of good projects as possible, to connect as many designers and architects validated by their guilds as possible with the general public, and to raise together the standards of local projects.
