The AltIași Cultural Association organizes “Lumi ale artei”, a series of conferences by specialists from the country and abroad, whose role is to guide the way in which contemporary art is exhibited, perceived and signified both in specialized settings (museums, galleries, various institutions cultural), as well as in the public space.
The first conference is held on Friday, September 6, at 6 p.m., by Erwin Kessler in the Aula Magna of the “Al. I. Cuza”, under the title: “How is something recent in art possible”.
To the question “How can there be something recent in art” the answer seems to be self-evident: in the art of now there can only be something recent. Without novelty, without something of the last minute, the art of now risks not being of our time, of the times when the attraction lies in innovation and novelty. And yet, those interested in the conference “How is something recent in art possible” come because they have doubts: is it possible that there is something really new in art today? The short version of the answer is no, it’s not possible. The long version of the answer is the conference itself.
