Porn O’Clock Tea #4 – Art Shop Featuring Unique Items

Porn O’Clock Tea is an art shop selling unique objects made of ceramic, textile, metal, wax, and more, crafted by Romanian female artists. As usual, it took place at Manasia Hub, 13 Stelea Spătaru Street.

The event closed in the evening with a Porn O’ Clock Tea Party. The DJ was Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu and the musical theme was under the sign of Aphrodite and Eros.

Participating artists: Anca Vintilă Dragu, Andra Achim, Dana Catona, Denisia Călin, Cristina Rusu, Elena Andrei, Kristina Dragomir, Liliana Basarab, Magdalena Pelmuș, Monica Stănescu, Otilia Boeru, Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu, Roan Atelier.

“Once a year, for the third time now, we gather, a procession of artists celebrating life, art, communal gathering, and unabashedness, staring straight into the eye at an urban gathering, an artistic clique. The event is situated on the path of post-disciplinary art, a meeting/overlap between art, design, craftsmanship, pottery, experimental expression, conceptual art, and a playful and performative art shop manifesto. The aim is to celebrate the meeting, our encounter with the public, and everything revolves around the table, the (ritual) of tea, but not just any tea, rather under the wings of Eros. We bind ourselves, how else could it be? – to (love is in the aaaair…) of the month of love when we celebrate Valentine’s Day and Dragobete.

Thirteen artists of different ages, horizons, and concerns have agreed to create unique artistic objects that, apart from their declared artistic purpose, also have a functional role. With this action, we also pose a question for you to reflect upon: if crafts and the so-called decorative arts often meet the criteria of Art, why, historically speaking, have they been considered minor? Could it be because they were traditionally associated with women, people of color, or marginalized communities?

We draw a calendar of the year through artistically punctuated events. If Porn O’Clock Tea’s art shop, celebrating love, is in February, in June, the “Iele” emerge at the Solstice to enchant the city, and at the autumn “Moșii,” in the exhibition about death, we talk about our relationship with the eternal. Stay tuned!”

Porn O’Clock Tea will be touring in February 2024 at Q Art Space Cafe in Brașov, 6C Zaharia Stancu Street. The cafe belongs to one of the artists participating in Porn O’Clock Tea #4 – Cristina Rusu.
