The art exhibition _ready media network(RMN)_, part of the project Going Digital – Embracing New Visions and Perceptions of Art, co-financed by AFCN, has arrived at Media Galaxy Constanța.
The opening of_ready media network(RMN)_ exhibition took place on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Media Galaxy Constanța (Tom Shopping Complex, B-dul. Tomis, No. 391, Constanța).
A group of artists from the young generation, 13m10j, Irina Bako, Marian Codrea, Antonia Corduneanu, Dan Chiș, Dragoș Dogioiu, Gea, Mihnea Rareș Hanțiu, Herne Hiili, Cristina Iliescu, Marta Mattioli, Nico Mureș, Radu Pandele, created, especially for the Going Digital project, digital artworks using current Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs.
The curatorial concept fits into a broader context, which Călin Man has developed since the beginning of the 1990s: _ready media. This concept refers to Duchamp’s ready-made aesthetics but with a synchronous update to the technology of 2023. Thus, the media itself, taken as such, hijacked by a more or less random algorithm, can give rise (on demand) to works that, assumedly or accidentally, we call works of art.
Curated by Călin Man, an established artist-curator and coordinator of kinema ikon (KI), the project discusses, detached, critical, ironic, but responsible, the current digital possibilities of custom production of video files.
The Dadaist spirit is preserved by how these films, received almost ready, are presented: in a commercial space, projected on television screens. The prospective buyer unwittingly turns into a visitor to an atypical, subversive art gallery, with experimental films playing alternately with advertising clips.
The videos will run on the TVs in the Media Galaxy Constanța Tom store between October 5-11, 2023, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Address: Media Galaxy Constanța (Tom Shopping Complex, B-dul. Tomis, No. 391, Constanța). Access to the exhibition is free.
The video works created with AI can also be viewed on the Empower Artists platform at Going Digital section.
“Going Digital – Embracing New Visions and Perceptions of Art” is a project initiated by the Empower Art & Artists Association.
