Celula de Artă continues to conquer territories aiming to exhibit art in alternative spaces and facilitate interaction with a new audience that is not used to attending openings.
The permanent salon at the Bragadiru Palace made available thanks to the support of Bulevart is the fifth exhibiting space inaugurated by Celula de Artă, this brave and experimental organism.
The opening will take place on March 15, starting at 5 p.m.
The artists exhibiting are Adelina Câmpeanu, Alex Manea, Alexandru Răduță, Călin Mihalache, Daniel Loagăr, Elena Prada, Gabriela Monica Tîrziu, Gizela Popescu, Ioana Cristodorescu, Ioana Norica Popescu, Jamal Louis Kareem, Liana Herea, Marina Bira, Medeea Stănescu, Sebastian Beianu, Silviu Petrescu and Theodor Grigoraș.
“The defining attribute of Celula de Artă is that it takes risks. The works of established authors have been displayed on its premises, but most of the exhibitors are students or graduates of UNARTE, as well as creators without formal training. From the very beginning, our mission was to support emerging talents, and some of the artists we collaborated with have, meanwhile, become well-known names on the contemporary art scene in Romania. The main criterion in selecting the projects is courage – we privilege the play, the experiment, the freshness, the themes addressed, and it is also important that the works have not been exhibited before.
Celula de Artă has in its portfolio, until now, more than 150 events organized, hosted or in collaboration, marking almost all artistic mediums: painting, sculpture, mixed media, installation, assemblage, new media, fashion design, performance, live painting , live concerts, magazine launches. Many of these were specifically designed for the spaces and semantic load of Celula de Artă, and the new permanent salon supports one of our missions – that of helping emerging artists move from the unconventional exhibition space to the institutional one,” stated the members of Celula de Artă.
CELULA DE ARTĂ debuted in 2017 as a street-opening space, which aimed to allow the works to escape from the classic gallery space, to interact with a new audience, which is not used to participating in openings; and in this context, as there is no longer a physical and temporal barrier between the art object and the viewer, a free, direct and nonconformist dialogue is created.
The gallery supports contemporary creation in the thematic areas of visual arts and encourages the development of new forms of artistic expression accessible at any time, in the showcase space on B-dul Carol no. 53, for the street public.
Starting from 2022, the Celula de Artă expanded its activity with Kulterra Gallery, that hosts “visiting art”, both proposed by other galleries and by artists directly, through a Pop-Up Window, but also in a newly inaugurated space, the Vertical Gallery within the Random Space building ( 21 Popa Petre str.) and at ArtSafe, the only professional and authorized storage of art and collectibles in Romania.
Celula de Artă supports and promotes emerging artists, regardless of age or training, and through the sustained activity of the last 5 years, it has influenced the way of perception regarding the exhibition of objects or artistic works in front of the public.
