“DRAFT for a Collective Retrospective.” Exhibition by Lia & Dan Perjovschi at ARCUB

Lia Perjovschi and Dan Perjovschi, leading figures of Romanian contemporary art, exhibit together for the first time in Romania in a major event marking 40 years of artistic practice – “DRAFT for a Collective Retrospective,” hosted by ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni from April 3 to July 26, 2026.

The event-project, organized by the Bucharest City Hall through ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest, in collaboration with Ivan Gallery and with the support of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, brings together the most representative works that have decisively influenced the local scene and strengthened the presence of Romanian art in the international circuit.

The exhibition activates all the spaces of Hanul Gabroveni and places the practices of the two artists in dialogue: from Dan Perjovschi’s incisive drawings and mural interventions, inspired by political realities and everyday details, to Lia Perjovschi’s research-based projects, archives, and conceptual installations, grounded in an interdisciplinary approach to knowledge.

The exhibition “DRAFT for a Joint Retrospective” is part of the anniversary program ARCUB30, marking three decades of the institution’s active role in shaping Bucharest’s cultural landscape. Built around the concept “Bucharest, in premiere,” ARCUB30 highlights the institution’s pioneering role and brings forward those “firsts” that have transformed the city—from the first large public street events to the first artistically illuminated facades and open-air stages. In this celebratory context, the project by Lia and Dan Perjovschi becomes another “first”: their first joint retrospective held in Romania.

At the same time, the exhibition reflects the shared mission of the artists and the institution: opening culture to the public and facilitating access to knowledge and education through art.
