Craiova is the next destination of the “Permanent World Encyclopedia” art exhibition, a unique cultural project initiated by Arta Prezentului in partnership with the Empower Art & Artists Association, which enjoyed remarkable success in Reșita.
The exhibition, curated by Norbert Filep, will be presented in the new contemporary art gallery GLORIÆ Art Gallery. This elegant, recently opened space will allow visitors to discover the works of the younger generation of artists.
The opening will occur on Thursday, October 3, 2024, starting at 6 PM, in the presence of the artists and the curator.
“We are extremely pleased to bring this exhibition to Craiova, a city with a rich artistic tradition, but also the hometown of three of the artists participating in this cultural project to promote the young generation of artists at the national level: Mihaela Coandă, Călin-Ștefan Dumitrascu and Andrei Ispas. From painting to installations, the exhibition will surprise you with the diversity of contemporary artistic practices, the color palette and the innovative techniques used,” said Angela Izvercian, the project’s initiator.
The exhibition “Permanent World Encyclopedia” unites the practices of eighteen young and emerging artists, who operate in a diversity of mediums, from the traditional stain of painting to the audio-visual formulas of artificial intelligence. The title derives from the literary work of H.G. Wells and refers to the relationship that today’s artistic practices have with the size of encyclopedias.
In an interconnected world whose lexicographical story lies every day in our pockets a click away, new artistic practices seem to articulate in a symbiosis with these systemically constructed spaces. Thus, the diversity suggested in this exhibition must be viewed in this key, and assimilated in the form of a complex of personal encyclopedias that complement the global one. “The itinerant project of the “Permanent World Encyclopedia” exhibition is shaping up to be an interesting route in the dynamics of new generations. This fact is due to a double openness of this generation of artists; on the one hand, their interaction with the institutions present on the Romanian art scene and, on the other hand, with the public related to each location. The initiative of such a project is more than commendable, giving the new generations of artists the necessary visibility and openness by promoting their practices,” said Norbert FILEP, curator of the exhibition.
