At the Museo dei Fori Imperiali – Mercati di Traiano in Rome, the exhibition “Constantin Brâncuși: The Origins of Infinity” has opened. The project is organized by the National Museum of Art of Romania in partnership with the Embassy of Romania in Italy, the Craiova Art Museum, and the Alexandru Ștefulescu Gorj County Museum in Târgu-Jiu.
Open until July 19, 2026, the exhibition offers a reading of the work of Constantin Brâncuși, one of the key figures of early twentieth-century modernist sculpture. The curatorial concept explores two fundamental directions in the formation of the sculptor’s artistic language: on the one hand, the regional folk visual culture of Oltenia, the environment of his childhood; on the other, the influence of classical Greek and Roman sculpture, studied during his academic training at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest.
Through this dual perspective, the project highlights how cultural roots and the dialogue with classical tradition contributed to shaping an artistic vision that would go on to redefine modern sculpture.
The exhibition can be visited until July 19, 2026, and citizens of Romania and the Republic of Moldova benefit from free admission upon presentation of an identity document.
