20 years after its establishment, the NOIMA Group, formed by Ciprian Bodea, Cosmin Frunteş, Dan Gherman, Andrei Rosetti, and Sorin Scurtulescu, presents us with a different kind of retrospective. The five painters introduce us to their laboratory, which has produced painting, photography, video, performance, or land art.

NOIMA presents individual and group works made in situ in the Drawings/Desene exhibition, hosted by the Subterna Gallery of the Casa Artelor. Drawings seen, made…unseen, in the dark, directly in the exhibition space. Creations that, later, the artists will bring to light, literally, in front of the viewers.

“Drawing is perhaps the most direct sign before all elaborate representations. The first sign, the point, then the line, support, or border that produces forms, the armature of color. The drawing itself. Figurative, abstract, explanatory, lyrical, geometric drawing, writing. If everything begins with the Word, in visual art, they all begin and are translated with the help of drawing.

The drawing allows this type of lightness, of fast or studied notation on any support and in any type of technique, with instruments that can leave a trace, a sign. The drawing is a more complex or softer touch, a point that by extension can be infinite.” -mentioned the event organizers.

The exhibition of the NOIMA Group, Drawings/Desene, opens on September 14, 2023, from 18.00. The designs are on the shelves until October 15.
