The manifesto exhibition “Nucleu 0011. Inopportune Meetings 02” from Atelier 35 signals the importance of the studio for the artist

The exhibition “Nucleu 0011. Inopportune meetings 02” at Atelier 35 brings together works made by four teams of artists, in an artistic research project, based on mutual knowledge, experiment, and exchange, initiated by the Nucleu 0000 Association.

The four teams of artists, with and without having a studio, are formed by Lucia Ghegu – Albert Kaan, Sabina Suru – Andrei Tudose, Ilina Schileru – Alina Marinescu, and Iulia Toma – Pușa Pleșca.

“Formulated around the notion of the studio, “Inopportune Meetings” is a creative context meant to solidify the community and, simultaneously, familiarize the scene with existing problems in the hope of identifying solutions, having the dimension of a manifesto.
The studio is an essential space for creation, a place of work and silence, away from the world. The studio allows artists to experiment, destroy, build, and throw away without judgment. The studio, this separate room we all need to develop creatively, is an increasingly tricky resource.

The exhibition has no aesthetic goal and is not intended to be the final result of some collaborations. It is not arranged according to some standards of “matching.” Still, it is based on the artistic experience based on the process of “meeting” to exchange ideas and the unexpected chance arising from “conversation for the sake of conversation.”

The events in the project try to problematize the lack of creative spaces offered to artists for modest prices. Paying for a workshop should not mean a sacrifice in the life of an artist, reduced to the limit of subsistence by the accelerated changes of neoliberal capitalism”. (excerpt from the curatorial text)

The “Inopportune meetings” exhibition is part of a series of events (4 exhibitions and numerous open artist studios) proposed by the “Visiting the UAP studios in the country” project, a cultural project that started in Bucharest and continues in Vâlcea, Timișoara, and Arad.

The exhibition can be visited until July 20, 2023. The entrance is free.
