In the exhibition “everything passes/ totul trece” at Rezidenţa9, nine artists treat with sensual lucidity the fragility of things, the human condition and the pleasure experienced with a kind of desperate elegance, in a new contemporary art exhibition curated in tandem by Georgia Țidorescu, an effervescent curator of the new generation, and Suzana Dan, an artist with a mature career and a fascinating creative universe.
In an atmosphere that evokes the baroque, distilled through the gaze of the present – more tender than sumptuous, more direct than decorative – the invited artists question the idea of passage: of time, of the body, of desire, of memory and of personal history. “everything passes” is about endings that never end, but also about bodies that no longer keep up, about objects that only begin to tell stories when they break. But above all, it is an invitation to look closely, with clear eyes and an open heart, at what is slowly disappearing before our eyes.
“everything passes is an exhibition that aims to bring to the forefront how vanity, often perceived as a simple concern for appearances, can become a deep source of anxiety. Frivolity is not limited to a certain segment of society; it is found in all social strata, influencing personal relationships and interactions with the political environment.” Georgia Țidorescu, curator
“We challenge the viewer to reflect on how we perceive beauty, success and value in a society increasingly marked by ephemeral images and standards. We can rightly consider our time as a golden age of vanity, and there is nothing paradoxical in the rarity with which we use this word. Because (isn’t it?) everything passes.” Suzana Dan, curator
The last day to visit the exhibition “everything passes” is Sunday, June 15, between 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
The exhibition will conclude with an F-SIDES Cineclub film concert in the Degete Verzi garden at Rezidenţa9. On June 15, from 8:30 PM, at Rezidenţa9, the public is invited to a screening of the Italian silent film ‘A Santanotte’ (1922), directed by cinema pioneer Elvira Notari, accompanied live by the musical compositions and improvisations of artist Bogdana Dima.
Film and music together build a sound and visual dialogue with the ephemeral — an intense and moving experience, which symbolically closes the exhibition, offering a final moment of reflection on what passes and what remains.
VISITING SCHEDULE: Tuesday – Friday: 16:00 – 20:00 // Saturday – Sunday: 13:00 – 20:00.
Address: Residence 9, Ion Luca Caragiale, no. 32, Bucharest (near the Icon Garden).
