Glitch has announced the official opening of the Glitch Library, a space dedicated to graphic design and knowledge exchange between designers and the arts and culture sector. The opening will take place on August 22 in the Glitch space in Bucharest, Bd. Dacia 57, floor 2. The library houses a vast collection of books and publications and organizes events for the design, publishing, and cultural sector communities, offering opportunities to connect and collaborate.
The project initiated by Glitch, which is recognized for its collaborations with purpose-driven organizations in the arts and culture, social and sustainability sectors, invites the artistic and graphic design community – both professionals and beginners – to an interdisciplinary and intergenerational dialogue. Discussions will address the promotion of arts and culture, the development of cultural audiences, and how graphic design and cultural communication professionals can contribute to increasing the relevance and impact of these fields in society.
“The Glitch library is not only a space dedicated to graphic design and cultural communication resources but a natural extension of Glitch’s mission to support projects with cultural and social impact. In a landscape that seems increasingly difficult to work in and for a culture where the lack of resources is well-known, the library aims to catalyse the exchange of ideas and collaboration.
By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and providing resources, the Glitch Library joins our broader efforts at Glitch to create opportunities for development and innovation in cultural communication and design. We hope that the library program, which includes artist presentations (Artist Talks) and meetings of design professionals with young aspirants in the field (Design Sessions), will be the beginning of a long series of exchanges of experiences, knowledge and ideas“, says Dan Stănescu, founder and creative director of Glitch Studio.
The Glitch Library will have in its collection over 600 volumes covering a vast area between art and graphic design: from artistic practices and visual art, passing through theory and cultural criticism to the various subfields of graphic design: typography, illustration, design poster, photography, or design history. The space in Bd. Dacia 57, floor 2, is open to the general public from August on Thursdays and Fridays by appointment at library@glitch-shop.com.
Participation in the design sessions and artist talks is free and is based on registration through an online form, with limited places.
