2/3 Gallery presents a new exhibition in its space in Strada Frenceză no. 4 from Bucharest.
Behind the enigmatic title of the exhibition – SUPRAPUNERI II | the right hemisphere: something that twists once in the air and then disappears – is a remarkable project of contemporary photography, initiated in 2022 by Răzvan Neagoe, now in its second edition.
The exhibition project brings together a collective of 20 artists from multiple generations and different geographical and cultural spaces: Mircea Sorin Albutiu, Olimpiu Bandalac, Ștefan Dinu, Irina Dumitrașcu Măgurean, Lucian Sandu Milea, Mircea Modreanu, Răzvan Neagoe, Claudia Retegan, Elena Andreea Teleaga, Mihai Zgondoiu and guest artists: Cătălin Burcea, Ioana Dumitrescu, Cristina Garabeteanu, Angela Fransisca (NED), Ferdows Faghir (NED), Mihai Rauta, Mick Santman (NED), Nicolae Romanițan and Andrei Sendrea.
The artistic mechanism of generating the works is simple and unpredictable: double exposure. Each artist ‘shoots’ an entire roll of film, photographing subjects of their choice. The film is then passed on to another artist, who in turn shoots on the same film, a complete cycle, with his own frames. The project, which took place over the course of three months, allowed the artists to enter more than one duo, some of them, moreover, entering up to four such tandem associations. The film rolls also had a route with a multi-articulated geometry, circulating in various areas of Romania, but also in Turkey, Germany, Portugal, Croatia, Great Britain and the former Yugoslavia.
The project, initiated by the visual artist Răzvan Neagoe, is accompanied by a curatorial text signed by Horațiu Lipot, which gives the approach a solid theoretical context.
The exhibition is open until December 5, from Wednesday to Friday (16.00-20.00) or Saturday and Sunday (12.00-16.00). Free entrance.
The works of the SUPRAPUNERI II project… are exhibited in three spaces in Bucharest: Gallery 2/3, Etaj Artist-run space and the Carol53 showcase.
