BARAKA ARTIST-run space opens on Friday, February 24, from 6 p.m., the personal exhibition -“The Essence of the Art World”- of the artist Oana Maria Bulimar Henciu.

The exhibition “The Essence of the Art World”, curated by Cristina Daju, presents works that are shaped around the idea of ​​an “artistic ecosystem”, questioning the relationship of the artist with his work and its relationship with the accrediting entities in the art world.

Artistic works are contextualized as essences regarding their potential, but they are also antagonistically reduced to labels, tags. However, keywords become triggers of meanings and meanings that raise questions with subjective answers.

This is Art can be an artist’s consideration or a critical statement, these meanings do not always overlap; Warning, it can be a moment of doubt on the part of the artist or a warning against a tendentious inadequacy, currently unacceptable in the world of art; Error, it can be a deviation of the artist from the initial idea or a rejection from the artistic environment; Unlimited Idea, for the artist, means an idea with a multitude of possibilities for exploration, visible and outside; Selected Work, a work selected by a jury following an open call, in which the validation of others prevails, sometimes beyond its intrinsic meaning and the intimacy of its message; Limited Edition, a limited series promoting exclusivity, in the realm of marketing, but assumed by the artist; True Value, the value offered by the sincerity and authenticity with which the artist invests it, which denotes creativity and uniqueness, which has the ability to inspire, but in an ambiguous relationship with the market value, of “share”; Sold Price, the sale price related to the symbolic value of an object and the relativity of the influencing factors, because often the “price” is sold, and not the work; Missing Artist, the work of an artist discovered in his absence, is about the artist positioned in his artistic existence long before his times; Art Exists, is the work that survives the artist, that finds its voice and regains its meaning long after the artist has ceased to exist, art that in time has a life of its own.

This series gives the character and title of the exhibition of the same name “The Essence of the Art World”, which after asking questions, affirms through works such as Memories from the Future, PerceptiON, (Un)Concrete Ideas / Works (Un)realized, different directions of concerns the artist who reflects on the life of an astral body, the interaction of colors-light and their ways of perception, and finally a recognition and consolidation of unrealized ideas. Oana Maria Bulimar Henciu (b. 1984, Făget, Timiș county) is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Design, UVT, of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Program in Painting. Apart from the constant interest in visual arts research, the artist studies astronomical phenomena and experiments based on the effects of light on color and space, the mediums addressed involve painting, installation, photography, and assemblage. Her artistic works stand out for their clarity and simplicity, always having a subtle conceptual component and a minimalist character.

Within the BARAKA ARTIST-run space, a section was designed to develop a bridge between artists relevant to the contemporary art scene, including those at the beginning of the journey. It is a place of experimentation, a space of art without censorship, allowing any type of articulated artistic manifestation through which a direct and formative dialogue is initiated with the target audience and the general public.

The exhibition can be visited until March 31, 2023.
