The third edition of RAD Sculpture Park, curated by Alex Radu, RAD co-founder and /SAC founder, is an open invitation to view plurality as a source of wealth. RAD Sculpture Park 2025 brings together the works of 60 Romanian and international artists, represented by the 28 contemporary art galleries participating in the RAD Art Fair, which will take place this year between May 22 and 25, 2025.
Since the first edition, held in 2023, RAD Sculpture Park has established itself as one of the most appreciated sections of the RAD Art Fair, offering an unmissable experience in the local artistic landscape, bringing together the sculptures of some of the most important contemporary Romanian visual artists or represented by a gallery in Romania.
Through this edition, we wanted to talk about current issues, about the need for diversity and the need for dialogue. We must recognize that we are increasingly different from each other and that we like it; we live in a contemporaneity of differentiations, and this is not at all something negative; on the contrary, it enriches us as a society. We have countless ways of seeing, feeling and understanding. We have an imperative need to find ways to aggregate in compositions (not in competitions) the similarities and differences between us,” declares Alex Radu.
The exhibition proposes a dialogue between worlds – from Ana Avram’s pigeons devoured by their real counterparts – a metaphor for identity self-consumption – to works like Deniz Constantin’s “Antifascist Shield” or Adrian Piorescu’s monumental installation, which reflects current social and political tensions. Ovidiu Toader proposes a reflection on collective memory through a symbol of unity, while Bogdan Rața explores the diffuse border between body and image, presence and memory, testing the limits of traditional sculpture through flat, yet tense forms. Poetic and meditative visions – from Albert Kaan’s liminal forms to Alina Cioară’s interconnected swings – complete the audience’s experience.
Notable international contributions to the RAD Sculpture Park include Nives Widauer, who explores themes of fragility and identity reconstruction; Oliver Ressler, known for his protest-like works on political and environmental themes; Marzena Nowak, whose works explore the boundaries between memory, sensory perception and the poetic reality of the everyday; and artist Terrence Musekiwa, who combines the tradition of Zimbabwean stone sculpture with contemporary materials, exploring cultural identity and current social realities.

RAD Sculpture Park 2025 celebrates the diversity of artistic visions and expressions, taking a firm stand against cultural flattening and trends towards uniformity. The public will experience this diversity in the most concrete way – through the works of artists from different generations, using varied perspectives, mediums, materialities and styles. From emerging voices to established names, RAD Sculpture Park brings together a curated selection of forms, materials and ideas, in a living space dedicated to artistic dialogue.
The extensive outdoor sculpture exhibition, open until May 25 in the CARO gardens, on the shores of Lake Tei (Str. Barbu Văcărescu 164A), can be visited for free, and guided tours are available on weekends.
