Regarding the works exhibited by Diana Popuț, pòros is the concept that unites them all, both from the perspective of the meanings they incorporate and from the point of view of the visual aesthetics that the artist assumes. With delicacy and sophistication, her works use organic and porous textures, suggesting entities that breathe and have life in the term’s most general (or generous) sense. They are often made from accumulations of traces, with an almost immaterial existence, from simple gestures that translate into repetitive and irreversible traces, in perforations and cavities forming visual structures that bring into question fragility, as part of the creative process and inherent in its technical component.

Diana Popuț’s works offer as an essential meaning an awareness of the duality of existence, the irreversibility of human actions, and the fact that life itself can be conceived and constructed artistically and possess specific formal and conceptual aesthetics.
As individuals, we are all in the paradoxical situation of existing as points in the universe and yet able to manifest common elements that connect us and place us in communication and communion; we are small and humble punctures of the surface of reality, and yet we contribute uniquely and together to the implausible and fascinating harmony of all creation.”

Born in 1994 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Diana Popuț obtained her BA in Visual Arts at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca.
