“Paper Thin Love” at Salon de Papier

Salon de Papier by Mobius & Cartierul Creativ presents the collective exhibition “Paper Thin Love”, an exhibition that brings together the works of artists Beatrice Arzoiu, Suzana Dan, Ioana Iacob and Lea Rasovszky. Exploring the fragility and strength of human relationships, the exhibition looks into the emotional architecture of our existence and how it ultimately defines our identity.

Blending collage, drawing, watercolor, and installation, Paper Thin Love offers a visual and conceptual exploration of the emotional landscapes we navigate daily. It translates coping mechanisms in the face of disappointment, questions of otherness, and the subtle dynamics between closeness and distance into tangible artistic forms, revealing the complexities of human interaction and self-perception. In an emotionally elusive landscape where human connections are both ephemeral and powerful, the exhibition becomes a space to reflect on our relationships with others and ourselves.

Paper Thin Love is a visual laboratory where the tensions between closeness and distance, love and loss, are dissected through a diverse and deeply personal approach by each of the artists, revealing intimate narratives, emotional negotiations, and the quiet resilience found in human relationships. The exhibition maps relational vulnerabilities and proposes an exercise in artistic sincerity, where fragility becomes strength, and art transforms into an emotional refuge. Beatrice Arzoiu (b. 1999, Târgoviște) is a self-taught artist who discovered her artistic voice during the pandemic, working with collage techniques. In 2020, she began creating and sharing her works online, quickly developing a strong community of followers. Her collages merge images and text into a dialogue that reflects life lessons and personal introspections. Beatrice explores the “gaps” of existence, striving to capture details from her immediate reality as well as the broader structure of human connections.

Suzana Dan lives and works in Bucharest, a city that retains the cultural imprint of the 2000s in a mix of love and contradiction. Her activity spans from artistic creation to cultural management, with a constant interest in collaborative processes and communities from various cultural backgrounds. Through projects such as The White Night of the Galleries (NAG), which she initiated in 2007, Suzana forges links between artists and diverse institutions, from artist-run spaces to major museums. She currently manages Rezidența9, curates exhibitions, initiates projects about and for people, cooks for friends, and carefully curates her presence on social media.

Ioana Iacob (b. 1987, Cluj-Napoca) is a visual artist whose practice explores themes of intimacy, isolation, and digital alienation. Her paintings capture quiet, unguarded moments, inviting viewers into a voyeuristic experience that exposes the solitude and vulnerabilities of contemporary life. Balancing sharp observation with a pursuit of beauty, Ioana Iacob’s works highlight the tensions between connection and detachment in an ever-changing society. She holds a PhD in Visual Arts from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca (2019) and has studied in Belgium, Germany, France, and Italy. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows at Matca Art Space (Cluj), Laika Art Space (Bucharest), and Mie Lefever Gallery (Belgium).

Lea Rasovszky explores marginal cultural subjects such as kitsch, cartoons, manele, bodybuilding, and other “psychological peripheries” that go beyond purely social themes. Her works are often moving portraits of people, situations, and emotions filtered through an ironic and rough drawing style that highlights societal stereotypes and values with a critical perspective. Rasovszky’s works are characterized by a fresh rawness, never indulging in trash aesthetics, but always maintaining an in-your-face attitude—sometimes marked by anger, melancholy, or even bitterness, other times by sharp irony and humor.

The exhibition can be visited until April 26, 2025.
