Opening | “White Imprint” | Mobius Gallery

Friday, August 19th, starting at 18:00, the opening of the White Imprint exhibition takes place at the Mobius Gallery, located on Dumbrava Roșie Street, in the center of Bucharest. The exhibition event presents the result of a long process of about 10 years of co-creation and mutual inspiration by a group of seven artists: Alexandru Berceanu, Constantin Basica, Grigore Burloiu, Sebastian Comănescu, Dorin Cucicov, Denis Flueraru and Andrei Mitișor.

The works exhibited within White Imprint are made in unconventional ways, the classic mediums of creation being complemented by those offered by new technologies, such as the magnetic strip or the conversational robot, which is based on Artificial Intelligence. The public is invited to view the dual perspective of producing works, from traditional to innovative, as well as how each artist explores sign-making through their chosen creative medium.

The exhibition concept addresses imprinting, the process by which experience is biologically imprinted, with rapid behavioral consequences. These effects are manifested in the form of signs, which in this exhibition are captured in an affective manner. There is also the question of artificial intelligence generated by man and the form in which it will leave signs in the future.

The artists included in the exhibition present formations and ways of expression authentic to each other. Alexandru Berceanu is a director in mixed media active in the use of new technologies and media in performing arts, as well as the author of installations with national and international exposure. Constantin Basica is a composer whose current work focuses on the symbiotic relationships between music, video and performers, based on the use of the computer. He has also enjoyed national and international visibility, with his work performed at festivals and conferences in Europe, North America and Asia. Grigore Burloiu is a lecturer in the Animation and Interactivity department of UNATC, where he coordinates the master’s program Interactive Technologies for Performing Arts and Media (ITPMA), where he teaches creative programming and interactive music systems. Andrei Mitișor, an architect by training, asserts himself in the area of New Media, realizing through motion design the choreography of the robot Kuka in the show Who am I? and installations such as Grid, exhibited at RADAR. Sebastian Comănescu is a Computational Designer and New Media Artist, whose works, such as Butterflies et.al, Sowing Futures, Pak-Pak, and Quantum Polytypes, have been exhibited at festivals in the country and abroad. Dorin Cucicov is an artist and coder with a genuine interest in exploring the human-technology relationship, which he translates through physical sculptures, digital projects and new media in local and international exhibitions. Denis Flueraru is a new media artist whose interests revolve around connecting sound and visual art with technology. Through his works, he tries to stimulate interactivity.

The exhibition can be visited until September 11, 2022, with the Mobius Gallery being open from Thursday to Friday between 2pm and 8pm and from Saturday to Sunday between 4pm and 8pm. The opening will take place between 6pm and 10pm, on August 19.
