“Jacques Lacan diverted the Freudian theory from the biology of instincts into the territory of the symbolic structures of language. But Didier Anzieu, by introducing the concept of the Ego-skin (Le Moi-peau), changes the paradigm, returning to corporeality as the foundation of subjectivity. Anzieu refuses to see the unconscious structured as a language and introduces the idea that our Ego is built as a psychic skin, as a series of layers and membranes that mediate the experience of the world.
The exhibition ”SKIN TERRITORIES” explores this dialectical tension, where the body is not represented, but rather thought, where the skin is present as a symbolic tissue, a place where our being is exposed in the full plenitude of its vulnerability.
In this sense, ”SKIN TERRITORIES” is not an exhibition about bodies, but about the condition of being touched — by the world, by time, by others.” (curatorial text)
The exhibition will be open until December 12.
