“Permanent World Encyclopedia” on display at Bucharest

The exhibition “Permanent World Encyclopedia”, a cultural initiative to promote the young generation of artists at the national level, is on display in Bucharest until January 11, after a series of exhibitions in the country, in the cities of Reșita, Craiova and Brașov.

“The exhibition “Permanent World Encyclopedia” brings together the practices of seventeen young and emerging artists who operate in a diversity of mediums, from the traditional stain of painting to the audio-visual formulas of artificial intelligence. The title derives from the literary work of H.G. Wells and refers to the relationship that today’s artistic practices have with the size of encyclopedias.
In an interconnected world whose lexicographic story lies every day in our pockets a click away, new artistic practices seem to articulate in symbiosis with these systemically constructed spaces. Thus, the diversity suggested in this exhibition must be viewed in this key and assimilated in the form of a complex of personal encyclopedias that complement the global one.”
Norbert FILEP, curator

“Permanent World Enciclopedia” is an initiative intended to bring together various artistic ideas and visions in a single space, starting from the relationship that artistic practice has with the encyclopedic dimension of knowledge. The fact that the exhibition travels from one city to another allows it to reach a wide and diverse audience, invited to reflect on the central concept, as it is formulated in Filep Norbert’s statement. For me, this series of exhibitions represented the ideal opportunity to make the “Up and Down” works more visible and to integrate them into a more extensive dialogue about how art contributes to the configuration of one’s own personal “encyclopedias”, in addition to the global,” said the artist Oana Năstăsache, part of the exhibition project.
