On Friday, January 30, at LeiLei Gallery in Bucharest, the opening of the group exhibition “Living Flesh” will take place at 6:00 PM. The exhibition brings together the works of twelve artists in an artistic endeavor that seeks to visually articulate the relationship between mind and body from a phenomenological perspective.
Curated by Mihai Voicu, the exhibition proposes an analysis of the human being and their connection to the concrete, carnal side of life, highlighting the interdependence between the two.
“Living Flesh” addresses the external world through its palpable dimension, as well as the inner universe of mental representations and affect. As an essential exercise in thought, the works test the balance between reason, emotion, and instinct, contributing to the articulation of a logic of visceral experience through the artists’ affective perspectives. They explore fear, vulnerability, courage, curiosity, and the desire for self-transcendence, encapsulating the human experience.
The public is invited to discover the various means through which the artists have explored this theme, while reflecting on their own fragility, impulses, and needs. In this way, an image closely tied to everyday concreteness is shaped through new modes of expression, developing a facet of a universal theme. (curatorial text)
