COSTUME / SCULPTURE / BODY. KANTOR’S THEATRE OBJECTS at MNAC Bucharest

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the National Museum of Contemporary Art — MNAC Bucharest, took place the opening of the exhibition COSTUME / SCULPTURE / BODY. KANTOR’S THEATRE OBJECTS, curated by Justyna Droń and Bogdan Renczyński.

The event brings to the public’s attention the work of Polish artist Tadeusz Kantor (1915—1990), one of the most revolutionary creators of the 20th century. Produced in collaboration with Cricoteka — Center for Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor (Krakow), the exhibition illustrates the Kantor phenomenon through his theatrical objects — costumes, objects, sculptures. They bear within them not only the imprint of performances, but also a story about the human condition, about passage and presence, in which theatrical objects and costumes become sculptural forms, on the border between body and space, between idea and physical form, between collective memory and individuality.

The partners of the event are the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland – the organizers of the Poland–Romania Cultural Season 2024–2025.
„The honorary patronage of “110/70/50/35 – Tadeusz Kantor’s Jubilee Year” has been taken on by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland from the Culture Promotion Fund.
Partners: Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Republic of Poland, Brukenthal National Museum, National Theatre Festival Bucharest, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Polish Institute Bucharest, Romanian Institute Warsaw.
