The Ap.6 artistic collective announces the opening of the “ROMANIACORE” exhibition on December 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the “Octav Băncilă” Gallery in Iasi. This exhibition brings together the works of artists Ruxandra Mărgineanu, Ioana Mihai, and Radu-Mihai Tănasă and is curated by Ioan Coroamă.
Guided by a critical examination of the meeting between the affective biography and the political space, the three artists suggest, allusively, an inter-media intervention that opens the way for a dialogue of opposites. And when we say dialogue of opposites, we say dialogue of plural portrayals of an ideal Romania, a concept confiscated by electoral promises and emptied of any specific meaning.
“Using the means of video collage, performance and visual collage, the members of the collective explore how the contents of an invisible place flood the mental-affective space, that placeless place of ideological narratives. Each of the three asks in his own way how we can deconstruct the mythological presuppositions masked in our own systems of perception, representation and action.
Before believing that we can shape the real we share, artists take a collective step back toward reflection, starting from the certainty that any subjectivity that shapes is, in turn, first shaped by semiotic flows, material flows, or social flows. We will witness a reflexive-participative effort to deconstruct the discourses and practices that promised to make visible truths that they actually wanted to hide,” says Ioan Coroamă, the curator of the exhibition.
The three artists remind us in different ways that politics cannot be other than terrestrial, and when it turns into pure rhetoric and forgets its own materiality, art is called to bring it back to the ground. We invite you to transform the “Octav Băncilă” Gallery into an art apartment where politics can make room to land: ROMANIACORE, Apartment 6, Affect – Representation – Dislocation/Displacement – Participation – Action!
The exhibition can be visited by appointment until January 8, 2025 (ap6.contact@gmail.com).
AP.6 is a group of young artists who explore the atmosphere of the 2000s from multiple perspectives through multimedia visual interpretations. They focus on a critical and reflexive approach using personal forms of affective memory not only to reconfigure the atmosphere of the 2000s, but also to bring to the fore certain aspects that the members have in common. The members of the group are Ruxandra Mărgineanu, Ioana Mihai, Marean (Marian Stavarache), Pansy (Alexandra Tîrpescu), Radu Mihai-Tănasă and Cristiana Ursache.
