This Saturday, May 14, 2022, the Night of Museums program launches the 18th edition of the cultural event, opening the doors of artistic spaces for visitors at night. Moreover, the program takes place in 87 towns in the country, and in addition to the usual visit, the public is invited to explore various interactive activities that are included in certain spaces. More than 210 events are available to visitors this year.
“For this edition, we have cultural interventions in open and closed-air museum spaces, theater, opera, athenaeum, philharmonic, and churches, in radio studios, in castles, palaces, fortresses, libraries, creative studios, cultural centers, art gardens, in creative neighborhoods, in spaces of science and experiments, in spaces of memory of communism and abuse, in pavilions and art galleries, in paper mills. We will be everywhere“, said Dragoș Neamu, manager of the Night of Museums. It is a multidisciplinary project that includes spaces that promote any form of artistic expression.
Bucharest is at the top of the list for this edition, offering the public 64 spaces for meeting art. The city of Cluj-Napoca participates in the event with 13 cultural objectives, and in Iasi, the public can choose from 6 cultural destinations. In Bucharest, the “Night of Museums” event will officially start at 6 p.m. and will last until after midnight, depending on each museum involved in the project. For this event, a special public transport line was established: 362, for the hourly interval 7 pm – 2 am, on the following route: Piata Presei, Arcul de Triomphe, Victoriei Square, Romana Square, Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard, 21 Decembrie Square, Unirii Square 1, Parliament Palace, Unirii Square 2, University, Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard, Romana Square, Victoriei Square, Arc de Triomphe, Piata Presei.
The “Night of Museums” is a cultural program whose first edition took place in 1977 in Berlin. Subsequently, it was also called the “Spring of Museums”. The project was then taken over by France, and will later be implemented in other European countries, including Romania. At the moment the event is very popular and engaging every year with more viewers.
