Iomo Gallery presents the solo exhibition of the artist Oana Fărcaș, KALEIDOSCOPE WOMAN, curated by Alice Zucca.
The opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 6:00 p.m., at Iomo Gallery, located in the Combinatul Fondului Plastic (Băiculești street, number 29, Bucharest).
“Through her captivating paintings, Oana Fărcaș invites us to embark on a philosophical journey that deepens the sense of duality and the wealth of meanings behind the female figure. Her art depicts female characters traversing and overcoming the everyday complexities of life, with their own personalities and bodily presences naturally intertwined with the abundance of natural or socially imposed roles.
Oana Fărcaș’s works reveal layers of meaning, causing us to contemplate the importance of the woman who penetrates with her mind the complicated tapestry of her own femininity. The paintings of Oana Fărcaș capture female characters on the verge of transformation, suspended in the liminal space of the mystical threshold, where the echoes of yesterday mix with the whispers of tomorrow, symbolizing the fluidity and adaptability inherent in the female experience.
Through her art, Oana Fărcaș highlights the resistance of women, who gracefully navigate the ever-changing landscape of social expectations and norms. The objects in Oana Fărcaș’s compositions play a crucial role in conveying the meaning of the narrative. In a captivating collision of eras, traditional symbols of femininity intertwine with the vibrant lexicon of modern aesthetics and are juxtaposed with a contemporary visual language. This contrast serves as a reflection of the evolving nature of women’s roles in the re-imagining of societal norms. Through these objects – detail, the artist’s paintings invite us to question the arbitrary value of things and to contemplate the changing definitions of femininity” – Alice Zucca (excerpt from the curatorial text).
