Galateea Contemporary Art Gallery presents “Imaginary Geometries”, an exhibition by visual artists Vlad Basarab, Adela Bonaț, Gherghina Costea, Gheorghe Crăciun, Judit Crăciun, Marta Jakobovits, Nicolae Moldovan and Cristina Popescu Russu.
The exhibition explores the affinity of geometric construction with imagination and the unexpected ways in which the artist infuses emotion into the geometric form to give, with each work, new meanings to the world. Works such as Crust (Basarab), Eclipse. Shadow I, Eclipse. Shadow II (Bonaț), Winter 1570, Wing, Ascension (Popescu Russu) and the ensemble Whispers of the Wind (Costea) point to the natural world as a source of inspiration for the productive aspect of the imaginary – inhomogeneous, uneven, as diverse as life itself. On the other hand, pieces such as Shapes in Space (J. Crăciun), Plastic Shape 04 /shape inspired by the desert rose (G. Crăciun), Trying to fix up a point in the Universe I, II (Jakobovits) or Twisted Column and Signs (Moldovan) function as geometric landmarks that structure the space architecturally around the plastic form.
The exhibition can be visited until February 16, 2025. Free entry.
Address: Galeria Galateea Contemporary Art, Calea Victoriei 132, Bucharest.
