GLOSSARY by Art and Anthropology from the heart of Dobrogea at MNȚR

The second edition of the “Art and Anthropology” residency brings to the public at MNȚR a series of artworks and interdisciplinary research that explores the subtle and radical adaptations in the local community of Luncavița, Tulcea, located on the border between tradition and modernity.

If the exhibition “Here was once water” (MNȚR, September 2023) coagulated around the mental map of the pond, the second exhibition of artistic and anthropological research is under the sign of the glossary. The participants, familiar with the collective eco-nostalgia of the locals, now entered their personal micro-universes and sought to get closer to the rhythm that moves people every day. The fragments assembled in the exhibition discourse recover lost realities, states of place and current postures of coexistence between the locals and the surrounding world.
The Art and Anthropology Residency is an interdisciplinary project that familiarizes artists and anthropologists with the northern Dobrogea area. For the second year in a row, the former Danube flood zone, currently agricultural land, and the space around the town of Luncavița served as research and exploration ground for 12 artists and anthropologists. The results of their research can be seen in the Glossary exhibition, a residency that will be open from October 4-22, 2024, at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in the Aquarium Hall.
